Flight Simming and Modern Armor in Afghan collide!
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

An incredible package, FREE(!), has just been uploaded at www.hovercontrol.com for those "crossover" types that like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 AND armor. Michael at MCDesigns has released a scenery addon of two camps in Afghanistan feature M1's, Brads, M1114s, and those ASV150 thingies...plus a Whole Lot More. Turrets on some vehicles are dynamic and turn, as do the heads of the more alert troops guarding the perimeter. There are numerous other effect for combat. My screenies don't do it justice, so I'll direct you to the threads below where you can preview more. Remember, it's free and with an easy installation.

Treadheads and Wingy-Things unite!

Get it in the Hovercontrol download section....

Talk about modern armor in games, the game designer Battlefront.com is 'supposedly' well on the way towards fielding a up-to-the-minute realtime 3-D Stryker Brigade game! Not much by way of screenshots out of them, they seem to be behind schedule on the thing. But when it comes out we're 'supposed' to be getting all versions of Stryker (except NBC), Bradley, Abrams, Abrams TUSK, Humvees galore, javelin, TOW, artillery and air support, infantry, special forces, plus a significant variety of Syrian combat systems too!

Now.... before anyone actually gets excited... what's the chance we'll still be talking about this game in the future-tense 4-5 months from now? Who am I kidding, even when it comes out my old system won't be able to run the thing. Sad

Bushy,
You might want to wait a few days as it seems a couple of special "effects" items may be revised/enhanced/altered due to the program with which they were created....or something like that. Scenery wizard "Dobro" may be making some enhancements available and Michael re-uploading. Nothing unsafe about the way it works now, but I gather some effects are not being seen by all presently, and this may be corrected (and some AI traffic added). Whatever they do, it can only be a case of an excellent package getting better with some "tweaking".

It's pretty darn nice even now, and no reason not to download and use prior to any revision being uploaded....
