USMC Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle not an AFV
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I saw a article about the new USMC Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle. I can't find it now or I would paste a link. In the article, the Marine Corp spokesman emphatically declared this was NOT a 'fighting vechicle'. It's job was to move, and to some extent protect and support, grunts. The grunts were the sword points.

Comments?

BTW - If anybody can find that link, please paste it here.

There one thing for sure, the word game is not dead in the Corps, but I don't see how the "spokesman" could say that because the Corps has never learned the differance between a fighting vehicle and a support vehicle. Ya got to remember this is the branch of U.S. armed services that put the Ontos (@#$#@ pigs) in service and then reduced its number of tank companies.

Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle

So when is a Fighting Vehicle not a Fighting Vehicle, when it's in the USMC!
Rolling Eyes Confused Rolling Eyes

WHY would they even bother to make this differentiation when everything that moves in place like Iraq or Afghanistan is a "Fighting Vehicle", at least armour and heavy weapons one time would have indicated so! Cool

Ever so slightly bizarre this one............

Regards,

BUG

Hi Folks!

It is to bad that just about all services and builders have to use some fancy name now days.

I would be happy to hear it call an "AMTRACK".

My outdated 2 cents,
Sgt, Scouts Out! Smile

Geez - I just re-read my post and the comments and laughed out loud. Dunno why the humor previously escaped me of a Military spokesman explaining an Expeditionary FIGHTING VEHICLE was not a 'fighting vehicle'.

Duh?
