WWII Re-enactment in Oregon
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

84 today in the Portland area. I went down to McMinneville to the Evergreen Air Museum and they had this going on today (actually all weekend). Two battles. One a Normandy scenerio and another an Eastern Front scenario.

There was supposed to be a T34/85 runner but they could not get it up to par. I got on it and it is in pretty poor shape. They hope to get it running in a year or so. Would have been neat to see running around the field. The cavalry was nice though.

Cheers.

Bob

an observation on sidearms....very interesting to see that the 101st trooper has the M8 fitted to his M1A1. the M8 worked well on the carbine, just not so well on that particular version... folding stocks--use that M8 and find out why they dont call them collapsible for nothing...

Shawn,

That might be the PT76. There is also an Israeli T55, and a BRDM.

Nice pictures, Burik!

The shot of the cavalryman is particularly artistic.

Here in San Pedro, CA, USA, about a block north of me, on July 8 and 9, the Fort MacArthur Museum will be hosting thei Military Days and Artillery Show, as it does each year. The re-enactments occur on the Pacific-facing slope of the historic Fort, directly below the old 'disappearing gun' Batteries, where 14-inch long range Coastal Artillery pieces used to routinely blow out hundreds of local windows on their practice shoots. Many vehicles, militaria sales in the gunpits, tours of the subterranean control center between the two batteries, and just plain basking in the California sun.

Favorite moment -- A WWI Uhlan officer, on a white stallion, prpared to lead his 'lancers' against the hated Tommies, just as a Revolutionary War fieldpiece fired. The steed disappeared at light speed, and the officer remained suspended in midair for about a nanosecond, and fell flat on his ass right where he had been previously mounted.

Come on down; anything could happen!
