Using magic masker
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Using magic masker

Hi Guys-
About a hundred years ago, I tried using a product called "magic masker" and promptly quit using it. The reason I was not happy with this product was because after peeling off the masker, I found some funny looking edges. I mean the masker appeared to come out from under the paint that was sprayed over it leaving a raised skin at the line between one colour and the other. I good example of what I'm talking about is that magic masker is now used in a technique meant to similate chipped paint-you dab small areas with magic masker and then overspray with your finished colour then peel away those small areas revealing the paint beneath creating what look like a paint chip.
My question is: When I tried magic masker I was using enamel paints (Humbrol), could this be the cause of the problem described above? Would acrylic paint do this? Have any of you tried using magic masker with acrylic paint? If so, how did the edges between the base colour and the secondary colour look?
With thanks-
