SLA Marshall report on 8th Army in Korea
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: SLA Marshall report on 8th Army in Korea

www.blackvault.com/doc...e1/126.pdf

This is a long download .pdf report by BGen SLA Marshall on the cold weather experiences of the US 8th Army in Korea. There are some comments on use of armor in tight with the infantry. Although I should have thought about it more, but he makes the point that the front was really a series of strong points. The enemy frequently infiltrated past these points to roadblock the rear areas or ambush supposed safe areas. Page ahead to page 19 for a selectable index page.

Marshall puts a lot of language into describing the Army as an institution and as a living, breathing, sleeping beast. His style is quite readable, although the language is different than today's vernacular - ie munitionment when describing combat grenade loads.

And yes, some of his conclusions have been proven false due to poor scholarship. But not everything he said is bunk either.
