Post subject: IL2 Quirk?

I recently purchased a new 19" LCD monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 940BF)to replace my 19" CRT (furnace). I changed the config.ini to read the native resolution of this monitor (1280x1024). I first tried it with changing the SaveApect=0. This fills the screens perfectly, but does not allow for the targeting icons to function properly. Then changed it back to SaveApect=1 which produces an effect like a widescreen movie with small black areas on the top and bottom. This works fine with the icons but got the unexpected surprise of the rear view mirror now filling the lower left unfilled area. The mirror duplicates the views (in or out of cockpit) and toggles with the mirror command.

Personally I think it is a bonus, but wondered if anyone else is seeing this quirk and if there is anyway to improve upon it?
