Canadian War Museum photo gallery
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

If that "mrclark" is Bruce Clark, he was a former poster on the old board - havent seen him post in some time. But he is/was a member of the Friends of the Museum and was able to get me into Vimy House while it was closed & the new museum was under construction. Really good guy! And a good gallery too!

I found "MrClark" on a Canadian shooter's forum. AFVNews and CanadianGunNutz very likely have other crossover members.

His gallery is the best I have seen on the net to date, and certainly conveys many of the emotions that CMW is designed to evoke. Except for maybe the sound effects tracks and whistling wind.

This gallery is really impressive and one of the best I have ever seen. I have found a small misidentification of certain vehicle which should be corrected.
For those users specialised on or interested in former WP armour this vehicle identified as a BMP (see the link) www.pbase.com/mrclark/...e/63376642
is in fact a BRM-1 - recce variant or better to say a development model of BMP-1...
Certainly there is a data table in front of the exhibit and the author only can know what is written there...

That's because it's not on display, it's still in the workshop being restored last I heard.

Cheers,
Rik

Here are some more photos of the areas not covered by Mr. Clarke. First is the 8.8cm Flak 37.

You can still see a lot of the old bright green paintjob on Forceful that it had when it was in front of GGFG - on the sides of the tracks, under the barrel, etc. Looks like a very quick & drity paint job was done on it...

Is it just me, or does the 30 cal. machine gun barrel look a bit long to anyone else? Shocked

I think they took a spare barrel and welded it to the ball mount instead of pushing through from the inside

I remember hearing that an Ottawa modeller and vehicle collector (maybe Don Dingwall?) gets the credit for making the ultimate 1:1 scale battle damage diorama with the Stug.

This vehicle was recovered in horrible condition, and rather than rebuild to arsenal standard, the museum decided to make the display representative of the end of a generic Stug's life.
