The old outdoor display had an open gate and was not guarded. Any one of any size could climb all over any of the items without anyone saying anything. As a G.I., I sat in a number of gunner seats to check out the view....

It was quite open to access back then. At some point during that time (1978-79?) there were some problems with post security so a fence was erected around the entire post. At the Museum, a roving guard was posted and no 'after hours' visits could be made.
