Hi Guys-
I just cannot help myself, has anyone heard anything new on the 1/35 scale Dora? I hope this kit actually does come out as I would really enjoy looking over the parts on the internet! Are any of you thinking of buying this beast?

Nothing new noticed here in West Texas sense the first news reports back when the idea and preorder deal came out.

According to a short piece in the latest issue of TMMI (#129) in the UK.

"The cost will be $699 US and as the model is a major undertaking for the manufacturers involved, they will require a deposit from serious buyers of $90 US before the balance is paid"

I have no interest in this model, but the question I have is do the manufacturers expect the $90 deposit BEFORE they actual embark on producing moulds, parts, etc.

It was my understanding that the manufacturer was looking for enough buyers that if they started production, they would be able to recover start up cost. If they could not get enough buyers to sign up, their deposit would be refunded.

The way I read that was nothing would be started until the required number of buyers signed up. My guess is the answer to your question is YES.

If I was into all things artillery, I might want that kit. Lucky for the wife, I am not. My take on that over size kit.
