Fonderie Miniatures, what's the story?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Fonderie Miniatures, what's the story?

Hi Guys-
Last year Fonderie Miniatures announced the release of a Renault truck (cannot recall the exact letter and number designation) which I was very much looking forward to. Now F.M has announced the release of a Borgward IV "Wanze", this vehicle was equipped with anti tank rocket launching tubes that I think may be the ones known as "Panzerschrecks" (unsure of exact spelling). Considering that I can find no info on the Renault truck kit concerning a possible release date, I am not holding my breath for the Borgward IV "Wanze". When surfing the net for info on F.M. I find they have released large numbers of aircraft kits or so it would appear as I have not actually seen one in the flesh so to speak. What I want to know is; do any of you know anything about this company? Any way of determining a release date for either of the two kits mentioned above?
With thanks-

While I can't address your Fonderie Miniatures question, Geoff, I do know about the Borgward "Wanze." In their late-war desperation to convert seemingly every vehicle type into an antitank platform, the Germans mounted six Raketenpanzerbuechse (model 43 or 54) on the tiny demolition vehicle. The 8.8 cm. Raketenpanzerbuechse, commonly known as "Ofenrohr" or "Panzerschreck," closely resembled the American bazooka. Both weapons made their nearly simultaneous debut in 1943.

No documentary evidence has been found to support rumors that this version of the "Wanze" later served as the inspiration for the "Ontos" . . .

I have no hard info on the FM kit, but Blast offers (sells!) a conversion with the ref BL35035K. You can see it on their site www.blast-models.com/
Not affiliated to them, just a happy customer and working near the shop! They prepare an update for the Tamiya B1 bis (I saw the first resin run this morning).
HTH!

I searched the new Azimut productions site and the Wanze is advertised as available
www.phpshopxml.com/azi...ta/BLI|FMI
But no trace of the Peugeot DMA (or DNA) kit here or on the Fonderie Miniature site...
