Tanks preserved as monument
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Thanks a lot for your help. Now you can find a list of 30 surviving T-34/76 here :

List of the surviving T-34/76

I'm quite surprised that thousands of this tank were produced, and only 30 survived until now... It was so common during the war and it's so uncommon nowadays..

What's wrong wis this tank? It's the T-34/76 exposed at the Saumur Tank Museum. The gun seems to be a fake and the trap door on the hull is not the one which can be usually seen on these tanks.. Maybe somebody has more informations about it?

It could be the vehicle was damaged before the museum recevied it and the gun barrel was replaced with a pipe. Could be the barrel was replaced with a pipe as part of a de-mil action.

The 'trap door' is the driver's hatch which should have some covered vision ports at the top edge of it. My guess is the hatch is missing and the musuem replaced it with a simple metal plate. The way that vehicle is, the driver can not see where he is going with the hatch closed.

My 2 cents,
Sgt, Scouts Out! Smile
