M60 in 4th ID area of Ft Hood...
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I found this M60 sitting at the corner of 19th St. and Battalion Ave. Serial numbers appear to be 9190 which is marked out, and 3293A, which I assume means a re-build. There was "JJ01M5" stamped into the front hull. I noticed two types of road wheels and was suprised that the barrel wasn't plugged. Does this M60 hold any signifigance?

M60A3...SGLs on the turret, thermal sleeve on the gun tube, crosswind sensor and TTS doghouse. Hard to tell but probably has the little door over the LRF on the right side.

The gun is like that because the fire control hydraulics have bled down. If you lift it at the muzzle, it will probably move.

It has a mix of steel and aluminum road wheels mounted. The one on the left rear is steel, the five in front of it are aluminum with the "reinforcing ridges".

Is the steel roadwheel on a busted torsion bar, or is that just an illusion? It seems to be sitting higher than the other roadwheels.

Good eye, I think you might be right. The track looks pretty tight, which would exacerbate the effect.
