I went by the Lingle (M114) at the Frederick MD National Guard Armory today. I looked under the left rear lifting ring and sure enough found a number

Then I looked under the right rear lift ring and found

Here is an overall of the rear just to help locate things (The right number is level with the top of the top rear door hinge below the lift ring)

So I wonder if either of these is the serial number. One of these days I'm goingto go in the armory and see if they will open the rear hatch for me so I can take some pictures. Maybe I'll be able to look at the data plate then. If I can wear is the data plate in a Lingle?

Ha! my son Jeffrey and I beat you to it!!! Just today we found an OPEN Lingle here at Ft Hood and climbed in. My son Jeffrey will be posting the pictures for Roy later. The data plate is in the drivers hole, on the left. I got a good picture of it as well as the USA number. Watch for it later this evening!

Did the vehicle have the serial number stamped on the exterior? If so where?

no number on the outside except the USA number on the front right hull. we did not look under the rear lift points. my dad went inside and got a picture of the data plate. Ill post the picture shorty.

I went back by the Frederick Armory today to see if I could get in the Lingle. The LT that was there for weekend drill said it would be no problem except THEY DON'T HAVE A KEY FOR THE LOCK! Rolling Eyes

He said he would offer to cut the lock off but they don't have any new locks right now. Some are on order and he suggested coming back in a week or so during the week when the full time staff is there.

So I'll try and get back in a week or so (The Person he suggested talking to is on vacation next week)

So hopefully I'll be able to check the Data plate and see if either of the numbers on the rear are the serial number. I looked at the frontplate of the Lingle but most of it seems to have been painted with a 'nonskid pait' (It looks like it has sand mixed in the paint) I think this would obscure anything stamped in that plate

I would be very interested to see if that data plate is the same as the one found on the Lingle here.
