Good call, and THANKS for the tip on this, Oh Great Rodion!

BTW they probably must be making an FSX update for it, although it says it "will" be fully FSX compatible, and it flies right well in that sim, there are several pop-ups you'll get about the gauges coming from unknown publishers etc etc. About five pop-ups in all when you select it.

But after that it's smooth going and it's nice to have an amphib Beaver, since the demo gives a very nice one but it's floats-only and not airfield-capable.

I just downloaded it this morning and got no notice about the gauges and it does have wheels for airfields. Maybe they did an update! It is a neat package and handles well.

My reference was to using this in the FSX demo, which comes with a normal DH Beaver on floats but without amphib wheels - and when installing this in FSX the gauge pop-ups happen when selecting this plane from the menu....likely not a factor in FS9.

Thanks Stoopy for the correction. After sending the message I thought that might be what had happened.

And my thanks to Marco for finding this one and passing it on.

In reference to FSX (the second pics is evidently taken from that sim, as you can understand from the water reflections), in the Premaircraft main page they state that:

NOTAM: WE ARE PART OF THE FSX BETA TEAM AND RECOMMEND THE DELUXE VERSION

Apart from the recommendation (how many FSX version will b availble?) I guess an FSX version of the Turbo Beaver is presently ready, and I have an idea all the future projects in this or other planes' series by Premaircraft will be released with this in mind.

An interesting thing is the simplification of the installation procedure: for every Premaircraft model, so far, you had to install separate packages for sound and panel, and then download a file including model and textures for each livery available (many, indeed). The whole process was mind-crippling, even because files had to be spread all over half a dozen different folders, and this explains why the web-pages are so full of instructions on the matter.

This time, instead, you have all in a single file, and everything has to be dropped into the FS9 main folder.

Anyway, I'm glad you like it: the Beaver is a favourite of mine since always, and the fact FSX has it as a stock plane is a joy to me - and now this amphibian... need another cigarette Mr. Green

I've found one minor problem with the plane. If you look at the plane in the sunlight in Spot view, the right wing has no Dynamic Shine. Most of the horizontal stab's are missing this feature as well. This is, however, very fixable. Jeff "Wuhwuzdat" Delhaye has taken Ivan Hsu's MDLC utility and incorporated that into the Windows interface. Changing the Dynamic Shive level or activating reflective alphas is now as easy as right-clicking and choosing an option. You can get the utility here:

www.sim-outhouse.com/i...ileID=4445

If it comes back that membership is required, it's free. You're just joining the Sim-Outhouse forums.

The pics on top of this thread got updated without my intervention. This will point you at the newly released C-FETN version released together with an update of the C-FOPA one.

Enjoy!

In relation to Tom's post about the lack of reflections - in my case, on all the parts of the fuselage surface which are painted in light colours - I got the shine.zip file he suggests, but then I'm required to get Ivan Hsu's original tool at FlightSim, and I'm having problems detecting it.

Is anyone available to address me to a direct link to it?
Thank you very much!

Just enter MDLC117.zip into the "File name" search. You'll get the file you need. It's only 180KB - a pretty quick d/l.

BTW, Flightsim.com's d/l links are coded to your login cookie, so posting a direct link won't work.

Thank you, Tom.

I got the program correctly installed, but though apparently it seems to work, I cannot get any positive result, and the Beaver textures still look cartoonish and with no reflections at all - except at dawn or dusk, when they're not hit by direct sunlight.

I confess I don't know what to do and I'm rather disappointed Rolling Eyes

It may well be a difference in vid hardware. When I see screenies of Mike Stone's birds taken on his system, the dynamic shine looks completely different from what mine looks like. I end up adjusting the shine on every one. Try using a different shine level for the model. I nearly always use the "semi-gloss" option.
