Post subject: Great WW 2 ACE Site

~S~....I found this great site, or may have seen it here...lol...called " acesofww2.com " it has all the aces from the war broken down from their respective country, just click on the flag and enjoy hours of interesting reading with pics...one of the best sites of its kind I have seen.....you would be surprised how many German aces made it past the 200 kill mark......gives a biography of the top aces from each country.

Great site. The reason so many Germans had over 200 kills is because most started collecting them during the Spanish civil war and remained in front line duty until they were either killed, captured or wounded to the point that they couldn't fly. The US pilots were on a strict rotation, and our brass was smart to realize that an ace who is alive is a better teacher to young pilots then a dead one.

also a lot of those kills were on the eastern front, i think the americans had a pretty good kill ratio overall on the other side but can't remember the exact number

but yea, Hartmann and them were fighting the russians for the entire length of the war
