You guys dont fly IL2..but I had to show this...dev shot from upcoming SoW: BoB:

....breathtaking...first read this:

"Sometimes you'll be starting in the hangar, and taxiing to the runway. Please keep in mind that this is the very first in-engine shot you're seeing. Shadows and lighting are mostly turned off. The plane is also not fully textured.

The planes in BoB will have dynamic weathering effects applied to them - you'll see exhaust stains growing, paint chipping away as you fly, etc; and also there'll be bump mapping and other technical sounding effects that make the planes much more detailed and life-like. All those features are turned off in this version of the engine, although they are fully working in engine tools.

So you're basically seeing the bare underpaint of the Spitfire, without any of the cool extra effects that have never been done in any other sim! This is what it'll look like on the minimum graphic settings."

i actually like the IL2 & PF stuff, they've always made it seem pretty realistic

but we just got this thing about the british planes, and liking to see them less horizontal, less put together then that

and with more smoke coming out of them

i'm actually getting a new computer soon, so i can't wait for microsofts FS X, and the new one from Ubisoft, I feel some good flying coming up this winter
