Hello from Austin TX,
Need some info on the 49th Armour Div (TXNG).
Looking for data on the Caverly units.
What tanks did they use in the 70's and 80's?.
How were they organized?

Back in the 1970's I was assembling photos for a Squadron book on the M48 (I sold my photos and stuff to Jim Mesko who was also working on a similar project). Anyway, I had a nice series of photos from the PR officer of TX ArNG that showed them to have M48A1s into the 1970s. After the adoption of the M48A5 conversion program, I'm sure that they were upgraded to M60-series or at least M48A5s. One contact at Ft. Knox in the late 70s said that the guys from Anniston were so hot to make more M48A5s that they were asking about the "gate guard" M48s at Knox.
