T34/85 question
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: T34/85 question

My Dad just finished building the Trumpeter 1/16 T34/85 model. It has interior detail, but he noticed there are only two seats in the turret. Is this correct or should it have three seats? As much detail as the kit has it seems odd for them to leave something like that out.

Three seats? Well...yes and no...sort of.

The Gunner had a seat attached to the frame of the gun assembly and Commander had a fold down seat attached to the turret ring. The Loader on the other hand had a small saddle attached by snap-ties.

So technically two seats and a ass-hammock.

My guess is that your dad's T-34 models the the gunners and commanders seats and not the cloth or leather (I don't know what material it was made of) saddle.
