I know the conventional wisdom on this would be the Tiger II but discounting experimentals and prototypes It would appear he French Char 2c is the same weight if not a tad heavier. Remember I am including only turreted tanks not self propelled guns like Jagdtiger that were actually fielded by operational units. Let the debate begin Cool

I had a look on WikipÃƒÂ©dia :

" The Tiger II weighed 68.5 (early turret) to 69.8 (production turret) tons"

"The Char 2C had a loaded weight of 69 tonnes, partly because of its armour - 45 mm at the front, 22 mm at the sides but much of it just because of its huge size."

So I'm not sure the 2C is heavier than the Tiger II. I don't know if the weight of the Tiger II (69.8 tons) is considered loaded or not.....

"The Char 2C was a super heavy French tank developed, although never deployed" and "when the German Panzerdivisionen ripped apart the French lines after 10 June 1940, the decision was made to prevent the capture of the famous equipment. It was to be sent to the south by rail transport".

So this tank was operational, but never saw action.
I can conclude that the Tiger II is the heavier tank that saw action during WW2.

I thought some of the German prototypes saw action but weren't considered operational. So for instance the Maus may be the heaviest tank that saw action but the Tiger II the heaviest oeperational tank that saw action....

Some people say they saw action, some that they didn't... That's the big question.

Anyway the Maus tank would have never been able to be operational, because it could not cross any bridge...
