I wish webstores would indicate what items are in stock
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: I wish webstores would indicate what items are in stock

Hi Guys-
On September 28th last, I ordered a Plus models kit from one of the better known webstores and waited. Today, having thought I'd waited long enough, I asked for an up-date on the progress of my order. I was told that the item was not in stock and received and apology for not being informed of this sooner. I will not name the store as it was just a simple oversight and I dont wish to cause the store any problems. What I am not happy about is that the item was not listed as being in or out of stock. Had I known it was not in stock, I would have looked for a webstore that had it in stock and not waited almost a month for a kit that was not going to arrive!
Some webstores put a mark of some sort beside items that are in stock, I just wish all of them would! Am I wrong to wish for this? Patience has never been my strong point, so, am I just kvetching?
Thanks for listening-

Yeah, I just ordered a copy of Charles Bailey's Faint Praise from Amazon Japan because they claimed to have it (in stock?) for about $50 US - far cheaper than you can get one used. Was supposed to go out this week, but appears to have been delayed...

Actually I still have a book on order from Amazon US that I ordered back in December '04 - but thats because the publication date keeps slipping...

Worse site I had problems with was the now-defunct Armybook.com My last order to them was changed so much due to what I wanted being out of stock and receivng a partial order that even now I am not sure I got my moneys worth...

Cool

Rather unsurprisingly, after delivery was delayed twice, Amazon.co.jp just cancelled my order: "When we contacted our supplier we learned that the above item is no longer available. This unavailable item has been cancelled from your order and you have not been charged for it. We apologize for this inconvenience." Mad

I bet you ordered from a site that rhymes with "Wait Models".

Nope, unless thats a joke I dont get, it was amazon.co.jp - they were advertising the book for about $50 US, when they cheapest it can be found elsewhere is $170.

There is a copy of Faint Praise for sale on abebooks for $124. Still a little too much for my taste...
