HUMMEL at FORT KNOX
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Please, post away! I wonder, are there any items that the Patton Museum used to have (other than that MBT-70) that it doesnt now?...

Nice Photos.

That Hummel has long since gone away.....

It was one of two in the original collection

The vehicle which remains has the damaged barrel.

From what I know, there are only 5 Hummels that survived until today.

The first one is located in Saumur (Fr). No problem
The second one is located in Koblenz (Ge). It is coming from Aberdeen.
The third one is located in Munster (De). It is coming from Fort Knox.
and the fourth one in Sinsheim (De).
The last one is located in Fort Knox.

The problem is that I have one which is or was located in Bovington (according to a list of surviving Hummels on Wikipedia). So, there is either one more Hummel, or this one coming from Bovington is currently in Sinsheim. Who has more infos?

Just looked through my 1967 images of Bovingtons collection and there is no sign of a Hummel...

Cool

Maybe it was mixed up with this 10.5 cm K18 auf Panzer Selbstfahrlafette IVa (on a Pz IV hull, like the Hummel), located in Duxford when the photo was taken

this 10.5 cm K18 auf Panzer Selbstfahrlafette IVa

no it is not..
In fact, it is an (Alkett/Rheinmetall-Borsig's design) 10.5cm leFH 18/40/2 auf Geschützwagen III/IV (Sf)

yeah..

Here is a slightly dated photo of the Hummel which remains at the Patton Museum.
