Series of pics from Fort Knox from early 1980's
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Same vehicle in '71 and '06

Hi Folks!

Not sure about the vehicle on the left. The vehicle on the right is a STRV-103C, or S-tank.

Sgt, Scouts out! Smile

Roy,
Definitely "S" tank on the right. Not sure 'bout the other one.

Since I've only visited Bovington once and only got to see the standard public display (Two days AFTER they removed the Tiger I from display for rework a few years back Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad ) I'm not sure what storage is like there and how easy or difficult it is to get to see anything there

On my trip to Knox a couple years back my contacts from this group and my association with Aberdeen enabled me to get a pretty good tour of the Storage area there. I think we've done a pretty good job of getting folks access to MOST of the storage areas at Aberdeen (There is the mysterious area 'Behind the fence' that may contain untold treasures that few have access to ) but items occasionally come out of there (like the 1919 Cunningham and the two T23s in the last couple years )

So I think if it is in storage at Aberdeen or Knox, and you ask nice and allow enough time for reasonable arrangements to be made there is a pretty good chance of getting to see the items.

Not from the 70s or 80's,....

Taken during relocation activities in 2002 & 2003.

I am attempting to use the hull emergency escape hatch of Panzer III, after removing it from display in the Museum. Currently in operational restoration.

StuG III with the faded remains of its original paint. This vehicle has never been altered since its arrival here.
