Oddball Armor Patents
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Came across these while doing some other research - maybe someone'll be able to elaborate on 'em

The first, a Lockheed design, seems to ring some bells with me, but not loudly enough:

And this is from John Edward (not John Walter) Christie - at first sight it almost looked, I don't know...agricultural...'cept for the turret of course Smile

There's a couple more that I cam across that I'll have to clean up and reduce in size a bit to post...

The bell could be the Swedish UDES XX20:

As a Swede I might be biased though Smile

John Edward Christie was JW's son - he wrote JW's memoirs: Steel Steeds Christie: A Memoir of J. Walter Christie. Manhattan, Kansas: Sunflower University Press, 1985.

I wasnt aware he had ever tried his hand at tank design... Interesting how the chassis appears to be based on a Sherman - in 1957... And is that an attempt at some sort of an improvement on a Christie suspension?

Howdy, Neil:

Yeah, I'd suspect that the "Sherman-esque" design elements here were really just an attempt to out a generic AFV body over the suspension, which would have been the critical thing with the patent...still, it would make an interesting kitbash...
