Mystery Gun???? Has anyone ever seen this gun?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I was just looking at the photo and it dawned on me that the building appears to be a standard US Army 'stack' barracks style building. These were built in the 70's/80's. They are also used as offices.

Perhaps Ft Sill OK ?

Just A thought

Thanks Don, food for thought, but I don't think I had been to Sill when I took this. I've had this pic for a long time and I just can't remember where I saw it. I think there is a navy 3 inch gun in the upper right hand corner. those memory cells go early..... Sad

Wherever it is, they can grow grass. That rules out some places.

Having been at Ft Stewart, GA where they have these type buildings, and grass, it might be a possibilty. These type buildings are also at Ft Irwin and Ft Hood, but I can honestly say that I highly doubt these two posts are home to this cannon.

Thanks Jeff
I've posted this at 5 different sites and over 1800 people have viewed it. No one seems to know where its at. The photo was taken sometime around 1990 so it might not no longer be out there, but maybe tomorrow I'll get a note from someone that's seen it. It is a mystery....

I was at Ft Polk LA from 1989-1991. Although these types of buildings were typical, not sure if its there.

Haven't got any contacts there (that I know of). Perhaps a place to consider?

Joe why can't you view the picture?? I'm sure its not Fort Polk, Irwin, Hood or Stewart as I've never been to any of those, But Don's Idea of the building construction makes a lot of sense......

AJ2,
Can't view pictures because the guys here filter what we can view and even access. I can't even use my hotmail. Thanks to Dontos e-mailing it to me I got to see your picture. I've seen this gun, somwhere in the dark recesses of my brain it recognizes the stowage boxes. The buildings look like the museum area at Fort Campbell KY, but I have a hard time placing the gun at their museum. Those buildings are just like Dontos said, cookie cutter alike on just about every Army installation. If I were to guess based on what it is and the other gun I might guess Fort Sheriden IL. Sorry I couldn't help.

Well Dr Atwater at Aberdeen used to be at the Ft Cambell Museum so I'll try and remember to show it to him and see if it rings a bell. But it will be after the holidays before I get back up there.

Its not Fort Campbell but have Dr Atwater take a look at it. It could be a Navy or Marine Corp Base. I've been told the Navy used the same construction material as the building in the background. Thanks
