Some tanks to identify, stored at Saumur
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

As it appears that the links on the first post don't work, here are the pictures I tried to show you :

I can see 5 vehicles on the 2 photos, including an M47 Patton. What are the 4 other vehicles?

The one to the left looks like an M48, or at least an M48 turret on something...

Also this one remains unidentified..

Batignolles-Châtillon 25 t

Some other pics can be seen at this link:
www.chars-francais.net...tillon.htm

The French tried so many cleft turret designs!

Right to left: Rear end of a Soviet BTR-50
M47 rear hull, front of turret
M48 German (smoke lauchers) missing main gun barrel
The rusty one is a Soviet tracked recovery vehicle.
Vehicle at the very far left, French AMX-30

Also this one remains unidentified..

That's not the front end of the AMX-13 light tank which we saw a rear view of in another photo?

Some accidental misquoting going on... But anyway, nope, AMX-13 has a different front hull - and smaller too.

www.chars-francais.net...x13-75.htm

The hull on this one is much more sharply sloped - and rather Panther-like, which is a fairly common post-war French design element...

Compare:

The Chars Francaise pictures also appear to be from Saumur, albeit earlier, before the paint faded...

I was thinking that the two M32 stored near the STRV 74 were maybe the Ecouché and the Porthos seen on chars-francais.net..(the photos of both tanks are quite old, so maybe they were repainted..) but the recent photos don't allow to see any marking.

Pascal, I had a look at chars-francais.net and found a photo of the AMX-13 Bridgelayer, and so concluded that it is in fact the same tank on the photo. So you're right.

Thanks to all for having identified all these vehicles.

I just sent the France AFVs Register v1.0 to Neil for corrections and additions, and I think it will be released in few days.. Then, if it is absolutely necessary, I will translate it in order to publish a list in French. (In France we are known for having huge difficulties in learning foreign languages..)
