Hi Everyone,
Took these on Christmas eve. Was busy a day.

Enjoy,

Joe D

PS, Dontos, won't be your way until mid June. Details will follow.

Joe:

Very interesting photos. Can you identify the units? Are those markings on the Abrams sideskirts or an optical illusion of some sort?

The Stryker photos are most interesting to me. Looks like they still have the step rings on all wheels. Newer vehicles only have them on the wheel below the driver station. What could be under the covers on the rear of both vehicles? Looks like the ESV carrying something in plastic behind the TC hatch too.

Anymore Stryker photos?

Thanks for posting.

Bob

Bob,
Markings on side of M1 are steel straps holding up the additional armor below the skirt. Plastic thing is a standard "Gott" 5 gallon water cooler. The rest, well,,,,,,,,,

Sorry,

Joe D

I didn't know they started adding armor below the sideskirts like that...

Hi Joe D! Hi Folks!

Now that you have explained it, I understand what I am seeing. Maybe that is a field expedient idea to help protect the driver's compartment from those newer shape charge type land mines the troops have been running into over there.

During Vietnam, some units tried to mount chain link fence on the front of some Sheridans to help protect the driver from RPGs. Didn't work because the Sheridans were also used as bulldozers to pushed the brush down.
