I was looking at a list of vehicle we have stored at work. There is an M1015". Anybody know what this might be as far as a tracked vehicle? No other info given. We have 3,007 vehicles now.

doing a google search on M1015 comes up with an 'Electronic Warfare Shelter' on a M548 Chassis. At Globalsecurity.org it says 'several hundred' were made.

The M1015's were in the 58th ENG motor pool at Ft Irwin. They had some kind of mine dispensing system in the back that was aimed to throw the mines at a 90degree angle off the side of the vehicle. I also remeber seeing them at Ft Syewart back around 1993-97. Cant really say I've seen any around Ft Hood, but there is one M113 family vehicle that looks like a large bath-tub, thats inside a mechanic training motorpool against the fence. I believe I might have to venture into that Motor pool this week and check it out! In the mean time, here is a picture of an M1015A1 that I was able to find. You know me, I love to post pictures!

Part of my old enlisted MOS, the M548A1 mounted the Volcano mine dispenser system. I've got walk around photos of a pair of them from my old motor pool.

I believe it's the M548's that I did see at Ft Irwin. Closely resembles the M1015 though. Are they still used widely or no? I would think these are quite useful and easy to maintain being in the M113 family.

That is a M548, but the thing that converts it into a M1015 is that extendable mast mounted on the right front of the cab. For a complete M1015, there should be an electronic equipment shelter in the back of it.

Back in my day, half of the transportation platoon in each tank battalion used the M548s for ammo and fuel carriers. The M109, M107, and M110 artillery units had one paired up with each firing vehicle.

It is my understanding that they have all be replaced and the only units still using the M548 are the Engineers with the Volcano land mine dispencer system.

Some folks still bring them here, not sure why.

Those M548s that have been modified to carry the Volcano system. They have hard cab tops to protect the crew when firing the launchers.

I found four of those today,(M548's) in the same motor pool that holds an M60 and an M4 I have previously posted. I plan to visit there tomorrow and snap some pics. I'll get some data plate and interior pics as well.

I went to the 4th ID Motor pool today and snapped these pictures of two M548's and their interiors and loads. As I drove around, I found them in at least three other motor pools as well, all in the 4th ID end of post. One of them had a Tech Manual,(TM) on the front seat that was dated 2001 on its cover.

I went back to this motor pool today and these were gone replaced by alot of Bradleys. A shame because I wanted to get a picture of the cover of the TM which was dated 2001. Bradleys were going in and out of the motor pool while I was there. Sure made me miss the Mech Infantry and wonder why I re-classed to Transportation, Oh yeah, three knee operations. Anyway. I'm going to try and find more of these and get pictures before they fall from inventory.
