Post subject: Just one heck of a Must-Have Helo....

While my heart and loyalties lie with fr8ycat's Hughes OH-6 Cayuse, there's one other new MUST-HAVE heelo-chopter out right now in my opinion....it's a fully redone, freeware GMAX model of the Bell 206 JetRanger by Owen Hewitt of FSD fame.

Some very tasty screenshots of this finely detailed bird and discusion about it at this here Hovercontrol thread:
www.hovercontrol.com/c...11108;st=0

Why another Bell 206? Even though FS9 already gives us a JetRanger, this one is a must-have for several great reasons: The detail work, exterior, VC is far far nicer than the stock Bell, but even more importantly, the flight model on this thing is FAN-TASTIC! It hovers beautfully and in straight and level flight, man it's just a joy to behold....no bad manners, and none of the constant hard yawing rudder inputs or 20-degree banking that has to be held to track in a straight line. Matter of fact, at about 75% torque and just below 100KIA, this is almost a hands-off helo!

Get it, and you'll never fly the stock one again gauranteed......

And if you're still a little shakey - or even new - to helo flight, this baby is what you need, it is SWEET!

Link to download page is below......oh, and as an extra, you'll see there's even a TV-News version with nose-cam too.....get 'em both (B206B3 and/or b206tv) and enjoy!

agreed Stoopy. Have DL'd but haven't had the chance to fly yet.

Have followed the progress pics and it does look great.

another plus over the stock JetRanger is painting. No personal experience but have heard the default Ranger has mirrored textures and is a pain to paint. Would think Owens would be easier and probably more detailed.

That's quite true, Oh great and wise cat of the frady! The stock 206 gives you one fuselage side to muck with so forget about logos unless you don't mind one side showing in reverse. Blechhhh...

I downloaded the paintkit for Owen's version and man oh man...nice stuff...repaints are coming out already and no douobt ther'll be slews to choose from in no time....:D

And of course when the local news team heard about the secret
Al-Queda operatives being interrogated at Area 52 ... they just
hadda try to get some footage .....

But additional troops and a Blackhawk escort provided plenty
of incentive for the media to peddle their trade elsewhere.....

Cool! Ascout's scenery....Area "Fifty-Two"! Cool

Only problem is....makes me think of Area 51....and Aliens.....then abduction accounts....
..and then when you see that ...thing... stickin' out the front of that Blackhawk ....
...and then think of the "@n@l probe" stories........YYYEEEEOOOOOOWWW!!!! Surprised

But....it'd be OK if that's just for the paparazzi in the Channel 4 helo huh?
