Visiting Aberdeen in April
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

"FEAR NAUGHT"

A seasonal bout with the flu ain't gonna keep me away....

I'm still 'ON' for the weekend (19-23 April).

I plan on coming armed with digital camera, memory cards, laptop, scanner, & several thumb drives.

Do I need anything else??

Don

...Well of course!!!

I've got 'oodles' of Ontos info, that I'm trying to expand Laughing

Actually I gonna be there to see what APG has. (Having never been there before...).

Bob and others have patiently put up with my constant "...maybe in the Spring,...." excuse for too many years. So I figured now was perhaps the best time to quit being so lazy and get on the road.

See ya'll in April!!

I just got a PM from Eric Lauterbach

We were planning another tour in Early April when he would be in town. That is now being planned for Saturday March 31. Anyone else is welcome to join us for that tour also.

<snip>

I'm looking forward to seeing folks both AMPS weekend and on March 31.

Doug, you know there's a standing invite if you can stop on one of your trips.

Eric, Bob,
Just to check, I assume we are still on for the first tour / visit on March 31 - little less than 3 weeks away now. Anyone else joining us for that weekend?

The big tour is on April 21st, but I am just curious if anyone else is joining Bob, Eric and myself next weekend (March 31) at the Ordnance Museum.

Bob, FYI, I am bringing two friends - Kevin who you know & another from grad school.

The March 31st tour will begin earlier than usual to meet Eric's schedule. We will be starting about 9:30. If you get ther later than that we can go back and redo any missed parts later. As usual I will be there all day

Hey Bob, so we're 2 weeks away now from the 21st. What are you doing on each of the two tours? Walk around the museum, warehouse & the one storage yard I assume? I guess you're planning on 3-hour tours each?

Will probably have to be a little more fast-paced than last weekend (which was closer to 4 hours), although we stopped at the parade ground & other places...

Anyway, just curious what your plan is - will be sending you e-mails shortly for the folks in my group.

Actually I sent confirmations out to everyone that signed up last week. I can't remember if I sent you one or not. I'll check when I get home this evening

The planned tour will meet at the Museum and go to the Belair St yard. I figure we will spend most of the time there. Then we will go to the warehouse.

I have not seen much interest in teh past from AMPS folks for tours of the main museum area. Many of them know more details then i do about those vehicles and have seen them often. The main focus is to get up close to the machines that have been behind the fence at Belair St for years. I would have liked to include the T23s across the street but that yard has different controls since tehre is active stuff in it so I didn't push my luck on that.

I really don't know how long the tour will take. It all depends on how much time folks want to spend on the vehicles in Belair St. I'm assuming we will have time for the warehouse as well as a chance to take a break between the two groups. I'm sure there will be time if anyone wants a tour of the main tank park

I will be up at the Museum for the Spring Urbanna High School field trip on Monday April 16 also I plan to meet with Ed and work out details then.

And I'm still waiing for confirmation from Dontos on his plans

If we want to do a AFVnews get together on the same weekend now would probably be a good time to start getting a headcount and make some plans

So what is our AFV News discussion board head-count for next Saturday? Bob, myself, Don... Kurt? Anyone else?
