XK-2 video
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

The biggest advantage would be in lowering the profile. There may be other advantages like leveling the vehicle when it is sitting on a cross grade or allowing more gun depression/elevation when sitting on a slopebut just being able to lower the profile and 'hide in the bushes' would be a big enough advantage
