Sturmgeschutz III production numbers (Edited post!)
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Sturmgeschutz III production numbers (Edited post!)

Where can I find production numbers (quantity made) for each of the models of the Stug III?

Also, for any modelers out there, what is the best kit in 1/35 of the Stug III?

I am getting back into modeling and this vehicle is one I am partial to. Just saw Tamiya's 1/35 B model with aluminum gun barrel. Looked nice, but at $42, I want a little more info on it. Shocked

Edit: Woke up this morning, reread post and saw my terrible spelling and ambiguous questions Laughing Quit before writing!

Panzertracts Volume 8 on the Sturmgeschutz has all the production numbers you are looking for in one nice well illustrated package. If you are looking for more detail grab a copy of the Speilberger book "Sturmgeschutz and its Variants"- not only all the production numbers but all kinds of details about each of the variants useful for modelling.

And for best Stug kit, hands down that is the DML Stug G Smart Kit. Probably around the same price as the Tamiya kit but much better, IMHO.

Cheers!

Wait a minute I don't remember giving away naming rights to any kits

And what praytell makes it a Smart kit? Do all the pieces fall into place when you shake the box?

Re Smart Kits:
To Quote Dragon Models:
"This series allows an easier build while still maintaining Dragon quality. No details have been spared!

The saying, “Work hard or work smart" definitely applies here, with Dragon’s engineers having cleverly developed a kit that will make the modeler’s life a lot simpler. We call this series the Smart Kit, because it is a customized solution especially engineered to make building easier and more fun, without sacrificing any quality in the end product!"

To cut to the chase, the idea is that you can build an excellent model with link to link tracks, exquisite detail and PE without having to purchase anything else- it is all in the box.

Perhaps you could look at royalties...

Cheers!
Bruce
