Paul Roberts or IPMS or other modelling contacts...HELP!
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Paul Roberts or IPMS or other modelling contacts...HELP!

I'm calling on the awesome contacts of the forum to help me find something more rare than the Hope Diamond and almost as precious (well, to me). I'm seeking, in a dusty collection somewhere, an excruciatingly rare conversion item made by Verlinden Productions for the equally rare 1:15 M113 kit they sort-of offered and which I've managed to almost take delivery of. What I'm lacking is the 1:15 ACAV kit they also made for this model, with the catalog number of VP0991 or possibly VERL0991, depending or where you look, basically the .50cal gunshield and two M60's with gunshields to convert a vanilla M113 to an ACAV version. Sold for about $34.98 and listed on a few sites but not actually available when you call (as I have found, both in Austria and in Los Angeles).

If someone knows the whereabouts of one of these conversions kits (virtually useless without the M113 to go with it) I'll pay handsomely for it.

If that fails, I'll be looking for someone with the skills to scratch build a high detail pair of M60's 'cause I ain't got the skilz. I can do the gunshield, but not the guns. A .50cal comes with the kit.

Would rather have the conversion kit, naturally. Spread the word, I don't have the contacts and some of you guys do. Since I travel so much, I just don't have the time to organize a "search party".

PM or email me if you get a line or have a proposal.

'Preciate it.

Don't read polish but google retreived this on 4/2/07 might be worth a try call in the language skills thread

Having looked at it I think that the ability to read polish is a bit superfluos!

Cool

Polar generously contacted (see...that language thread is already paying dividends!) and they said "they can order". We shall see...heard this one before and it didn't turn out to be so, but you never know. I think most outfits that had this in their catalog (online or otherwise) don't know the story on this item (special large scale kit that didn't really make it to "production", just a few releases and the market fizzled...who really wants a large, expensive kit of a common, non-exotic APC built in the tens of thousands and it's not even a German Big Cat? Rolling Eyes )

Thanks, Kurt...I've sent an "emergency action message" to my eBay wizard here in the states (webmaster at VHPAmuseum)....he's in the militaria collector business and a pro at this stuff...standing by!

My man is already on the case, took 5 minutes to hear back from him! Thanks for the heads up, Kurt!

Don't laugh, you can specify or take it yourself! A generous "finder's fee" will, in fact, be paid to the helpful (and unnamed) member who is facilitating my obtaining the M113 model itself.

This board can be mighty helpful for the members when the need arises. Wink
