Roy Lingle, check this out....
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Sombody's 11th Cav photo album is up for sale on eBay. From the discussion my posting of this item precipitated over on the 11thACVVC forum, it seems a sad story of how it came to be there. You will at least want to review the pictures and discussion because there might well be someone there you recognize. Excellent M113 ACAV, M48 and M42 Duster photos as well. Will only be up for about three more days. Download the photos at least, because they were all scanned in and posted.

Does 11 Cav have a museum? If they do why not organise a whip-round to buy it and present it to the museum on behalf of the group?

Count me in for $10

Cool

The 11th Cav museum is located at Ft. Irwin and is shared with the NTC museum at that facility. I floated exactly that possibility at the 11th Armored Cavalry Veterans of Vietnam & Cambodia website forum as linked above. It's under consideration, but made problematic by the fact that the album is apparently in Italy and it seems owned by a former girlfriend of the trooper in question. What was being discussed was buying it and giving it to the family. Seems there is some bad blood in the equation.

Hi Doug! Hi Folks!

Thanks for the heads up! Best I can remember, during my time with C Troop, we never did anything with the 919th Engineers. From the dates on a few of those photos, all are just a few months before I arrived for my tour with Charlie Troop. Lots of nice photos. Looks like one of the M113s hit a land mine and a second one got hit by something very big.

As for 11th ACR M48s, I only saw an 11th ACR tank one time. I was laying on the floor of a Huey, looking out the right hand door and saw D company lined up at a firing range doing some shooting.

Sad story as to how that collection came to be where it it now.

Roy,
The album arrived and is in the condition it was represented to be. It contains 68 pics and the pics in the original post above are still up. The hunt for NOK of the KIA's is on. I don't think we'll ever know the owner of this album, but if you look at the pics of the original post, the last one of the guy in khakis has writing on the back in ball point, but a lot of black paper stuck to it from some other mounting. If I can get that off, we might learn something.

Oh, and there was this item, not previously scanned....
