Well, looks like I'm good with it too. I went against the grain and backed out all mods and tweaks, them installed the update and had no problems. I know that's the risky way to do it but I just had to try it. Anyways, yep I see changes and improved performance, nothing really remarkeable like a new sim but I definitely gained several FPS which makes a great deal of difference. Only put a couple short flights in though, and only one of those after defragging.

Altogether though I did bump one or two sliders up a notch and now will begin some re-tweaking looking for the new sweet spot....

Sad to say the texture problems at Phu Bai Redux still exist though.

for reference I think your problem was related to your screen...

If I remember right when you built the new rig you put a LCD screen with it ?

LCD always gonna be locked @ 75 fps not like the old crt... even if V sync is turned off

As an experiment you could try locking vsync @ 70fps in Nvid panel and then try it with SLI enabled..

Would be interested to know the result

Hey Sly,

Technically SLI is always enabled with the GX2 cards being dual ones. Smile

I think I was just trying too hard...
I was and do run FSX at a resolution of 1920x1200x32, this with unlimited frame rates (just for testing) and all sliders maxed out was just a little too much for a smooth display. When I locked the frames back down to the normal 20 fps it runs very smooth again.

I could crank the fps up to 60-70fps before the stutter starts but to be honest there is no point.

It was agreed a long time ago to lock fps at 20 to save bandwidth when in multiplayer mode and I've stuck with that setting ever since, even though I don't fly on line very often these days.

Big screen, anisotropic filtering and anti aliasing turned on, I'll settle for what I have.

I've also devised a work around to get FS2004 repaints to show up in FSX without having to install the aircraft in FSX. Still fine tuning it at the mo.
