Well, my router died this morning...The network side of it (4 port switch) keep the network up but I lost access to the wan side and couldn't access the internet.

To cut a very long story short, I replaced my router (Q-Tec) with a D-Link, this also gives me the option of using wireless around the house for my laptops.

It also appeared that my old router was 'throttling' my 20 meg cable connection, previous bandwidth test was in the order of 9000/700kb/s

Having installed the new router I tested the bandwidth again to confirm normal operation...

And I thought it was fast before...

Shocked

575 kb/s and 67 kb/s (DL / UL respectively)

Gonna be calling my ISP tomorrow for sure! I am using DSL which is supposed to be 2 MB downloads.

Unfortunately, Cable companies did a study to bring cable out to our area and figured about $30 million to complete the job and then turned their noses up! We're about 15 miles from civilization, but over 1,000 homes in my community! Ah well, either this or dial-up! Evil or Very Mad

Let it be noted that at a 9ms ping rate, I have the lowest latency, though. 30MM shells fired from the hub-mounted Rheinmetal Mk108 cannon don't need fast download or upload throughput.....just need low latency to find their mark accurately!!!
