Modernized Half Track - not as big as I remembered
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotor...0131149050 This is an ebay auction for a half track drive mated to a commercial half-ton truck chassis. Until I got a ride in one, I had this idea that half tracks were much bigger. This conversion puts the size clearly into perspective.

I had this idea that half tracks were much bigger. This conversion puts the size clearly into perspective.

The 3rd ACR had two or three M2 halftracks here at Ft. Bliss and I saw a few in Germany during my time over there. As far as size goes, they are not really very big.

I was also suprised at how small half-tracks (and all WW2 vechicles) were. The cars of the 50's and 60's made them look small. The latest turbo-diesel, duelly, quad-cab parking lot hogs would make Patton cringe at the thought of going near a Walmart store.
