Any special request for Knox this weekend?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Heh. Wink I was thinking about getting a hotel room to ease up on the driving, so I'll hopefully be there by at least 9:30. I'll keep an eye out for a Coast Guard shirt. Smile

Hi AJ2! Hi Folks!

Anyone have anything special they would like me to attempt to photograph this weekend, I'll do my best to do it, but no guarantees....

A 360 walk around of the XM800T would be great if you have the time AJ2.

Thanks,
Sgt, Scouts Out!

I second the notion for the XM800T walkaround. When I was there last the weld on the left side door was broken and the door was slightly ajar. I pushed it shut so hopefully nobody would notice. So you might be able to get interior shots. Those would be a rare commodity Cool

Wow! Great service!

Now, for extra credit trivia queston....(Bob Steinbrunn!), who can tell me what this building shown in the background behind the M103 was back in the old days BEFORE it was the "antique" store it is now? (Hint, when I was there last year, I checked the phone book and the name of the "company" was still listed, but didn't have a big showroom...and it was named for the owner....which is shared with a "country").

I happen to know because he was my landlord when three of we lowly EM's set a precedent of renting an apartment off base and moving out of the barracks at the Armor Board...a decision that got kicked way upstairs (like all the way to APG) before they decided that they couldn't "authorize" it, but couldn't tell us not to, either (being the new VOLAR and all...).

For extra-extra credit, who knows what the (not shown) discount bread place is on the south side of 31W near this tank used to be? It was still there last year, faces perpendicular to the highway. The drivein restaurant, BTW, is original and was there back in the early '70's at least.

Nice images AJ....

I was just looking at the images there when I started wondering what it actually looked like when it was in service. If anyone would be interested in seeing the images again with everything photoshopped into the image that would have been there while it was in service. No attempt at deceit - it would be obvious that they were added (otherwise it gets too complex). Could cover 'service' versions of a few of the T's as well.

Just a thought...

Cool
