OT - WWI artillery for Armyjunk2
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

That's a great map, armyjunk2. If I'd only had it 25 years ago.... Sad It was probably available, if only I had known where to look. A lot of those trails became the roads that we knew. And I'll bet the ones that had fallen from use were still visible.

I'm very interested in learning more. Please e-mail with any information that you can share.

DennisMenace56(takethisout)@bellsouth.net I see people using the (takethisout) all the time. Guess it keeps spammers from calling?

Thanks, Dennis

Dennis, I sent you a set of the 1921 and the 1935 maps to the Harbor Defenses of Panama, let me know if you get them ok. I have plans for most of the Ordnance related building there also.........

Got the maps Armyjunk2. Thanks!

Looking at maps published in the '20s and '30s is like going into a time warp. Stuff marked "proposed" was the base where I lived, 60 years later. Stuff marked "existing" was the stuff that we stumbled across and marveled at, deep in jungle.

Our military maps didn't show anything there, or just said "ruins". It took the advent of the internet before I found out the true extent of all those mysterious ruins!

Armyjunk2, here's some arty from the 45th Infantry Division Museum in OKC - thanks to my friend Kevin...

ID these for us if you would!

Another M1897 on an M2 carriage?

M1905 3" field gun

Not sure which era or type this is....

But it seems to also have a really impressive carriage

That looks like either an 8" gun or a 240mm Howitzer. Yes, it is a two load piece (They have a gun and recoil system on the travel carriage at Aberdeen but not the carriage) I wonder what the tires are on the transport for that? Aberdeen had a hard time finding tires the right size when they needed them. Turned out the Russians still used that size on some large vehicles. So the display at Aberdeen has Russian tires Shocked . I wonder if we can claim it is Reverse lend lease

The muzzle of the 8" has me a little baffled. Any ideas what it is?

Looks like it was used with a barrel insert for testing ammunition of some sort.

Cool

M1897A4 75mm field gun

M1920M1 155mm field howitzer - appears to be one of the oldest surviving items in the museum collection. The museum catalogue system includes a year along with the item number. Most date from the 1940s - this one is dated 1920...

PaK 97/38 7.5cm - French 75 converted to an anti-tank gun
