I'm really not sure when I began lurking & posting on the Old AFV, (perhaps 2001 or 2002) prior to making the move here, but does that make me an 'Original' ??

I was a 'member' of the old 'HEAVY METAL' AFV DG, which became 'Tank Net', which BTW just isn't the same..... ( circa 1998...)

Yeah,

guilty as charged, lurked around the "old board" for years, and became active about a year or two before its demise.

Egads, yep, "Tank Net" isn't even a shadow of it's former self, too much hype and too juvenile was my last impression, plus the attitude of posting a question for every little tidbit that could have been garnered with a minute amount of good oldfashioned research- I haven't been there for at least 6 months, probably longer...

Yup,

we may have run across each other way back when- unfortunately the Rock has been closed down, I don't even know what's still standing, if I get a chance to go down there, I'll take a couple of pics. Uncle Sam is getting ready to leave for good, Friedberg, BÃ¼dingen and Giessen are going to stand down within the year... Times sure are changing, Giessen was the largest supply depot outside CONUS for decades, and the US Army one of the biggest employers. Sad

Licher is still going strong, from what I hear there are even a few random outlets in the US carrying it. If fate ever smiles my way and gets me across the Big Pond again, I'll see about getting you supplied with a party keg or so.

Yup, I've been guilty of sharing that particular taste way back when, and I see some of our reading material was identical as well- you probably sampled the bratwurst across from the Ayers main gate as well. Mr. Green

SAMPLED !!??..... no, survived on it, as well as the 'Gyros'. Also an occassional visit to the 'Welcome Inn', for some liquid refreshments.

It was cheaper there when short on funds for transportation (to Langons, Wetzlar, or Butzbach...) via 'mini-cab' &/or Train ( to Friedburg or Frankfurt/ Sachsenhausen)

Having a 'Spearhead' Moment...
