M60A0 remains at Jacques Littlefield's
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I was able to visit some of Jacques Littlefield's storage buildings yesterday and ran across this rather sad M60A0:

Other than the "15" on the front tow lug, I couldn't find any other numbers of real significance. Next time I get back there, I'll see if the data plate is still in the driver's compartment.

Chris does it have the 'TRAINING TANK ONLY' welding bead message on the front glacias? Also any hint of the registration number in the flaking paint on the sides?

Hi Bob,
Nothing of the sort on the glacis. I couldn't really make anything out regarding the reg number as it was in too bad of shape. I didn't really poke around this tank too much as there can be lots of rattlesnakes Shocked in the area during this time of year and my wife would be a bit perturbed if I was bitten by one. Wink

I'm with Bob,
If the accepted information is correct. This poor old girl was the last of the "Training Tank Only" M60's made. Wonder why it's there and if it was a parts tank or just a rescue.

I couldn't remember what the last hull in the TTO series was but thought it was 15 or 16. And I'm hoping we can find the RN for it.

By the way a good defence for snakes is CO2 fire extinguishers. Being cold blooded they can't handle the sudden blast of cold gas. The CO2 nozzle also has a sufficient breadth of stream that even a nervous operator can hit the snake. Several were kept at the CQ desk at Air Force OTS at Medina annex of Lackland AFB. In the late spring there were snakes found on all floors of the multi-story dormitory on a regular basis. the extuinguishers were considered safe enough that extensive training was not required for effective (and safe use) But the built in hand grip must be functional to prevent the user from getting frostbite when holding and pointing the nozzle
