Need help and pictures: Ft knox stuG III G
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Need help and pictures: Ft knox stuG III G

Well I´m new here, this is the first time I post and I feel a little "nervous" so excuse me if I make any kind of mistake and excuse my basic English abbilities too...I come here as I understand this is the best site for this question/request as there are several persons directly related to Ft Knox/Patton Museum.
In resume: We would need detailed pictures (Or drawings) of the paint scheme of one of the StuG III G stored at Patton Museum (The one with red balkan crosses) that, if I´m not wrong, is still in its original paint .
The reasons for this is that we believe it could be the only survivor of a non documented "Factory/standard camouflage scheme": Missing links thread
(Excuse me if I don´t copy directly all the posts here and instead I use what was posted in another site, but I think it would become a too long post.)
Existing pictures are too blurry, small, distant or with bad colour definition. also there are several areas (Mostly both side armour and roof) that aren´t visible in available pictures.
What we would need should be sharp pictures showing the distribution of all three colours (red primer, sand and green) or a clear scheme (Very much in the way they are shown in plastic model paint instructions) Nothing fancy, only something like this:

Waiting for your answer and thanking ANY kind of help in advance...

Welcome

Pages 24 - 25 and 28 - 29 of the Squadron Signal 'Sturmgeschütz Ausf.G Walk Around' publication has some photos of the red 'balkenkreuz' StuG Ausf. G.

Thank you for your answer Gentlemen; I´ll try to get that book, but while I get it...Is the vehicle still stored at the Richardson Motor Pool? And if it is Would it be excessive if I ask for better all around pictures (Roof, front plate and back plates included) remember that what we are trying to make is a scheme of the pattern...
By the way, is the base colour Green or Red Primer?
Thank you very much, this allready is much more than I was expecting to find...
this is what I´ve got so far and I think it matches with your pictures:

But as you can see I have no clue on front of superstructure and on green and red patterns.

The StuG is in the Richardson MP in indoor storage. It has been widely photographed but here are a couple of photos I took back in 2002, when it was moved to its current location.

Frontal View:

Rear View

Left Side View:

Due to lighting, aged faded paint, and accumulated dust, it is difficult to distinguish the exact paint pattern, expecially in the storage bay. Colors include Brown, Green, & Tan. The red lead primer is distinguishable in some places.

I'll see if I can get some better detailed photos.

Shocked Shocked Shocked Looks like you,ve got an interesting workplace Don...
I Wonder if this could be done as a "choral" work. I mean, would somebody be interested in making a scheme starting from a 5 view drawing and modifying it when data are available? It could be uploaded to Imageshack every time is modified and then made available to anyone (Specialists, writers or modellers) under the label "AFV ASSOCIATION"...
What do you think?

I'll see if I can add this little project on my 'THINGS TO DO' list.

I'll start 'tinkering' and keep eveyone 'up to date'

BTW: I don't 'work' there, Shocked I am merely a volunteer. Mr. Green

Go to this link for some more photos of the StuG III.

www.armorfortheages.co...page01.htm

These photos basically follow after Don's photos when the StuG was moved to Richardson for the first time. It is still covered in dust from the old storage building, but some of the paint scheme is more apparent.

Roger, don't you have a picture of this Stug with the entire barrel (that is to say including the muzzle brake)?

Thanks

Hello I dare to bring this thread back to your attention...Could someone please tell me the Fahrgestellnummer of that StuG III?
That would be of great help for a friend of mine who is trying to investigate that cammo scheme...
TIA
