Ft. Snelling Military Museum
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I'm heading over to Minneapolis tomorrow (but not via "the bridge") to the Ft. Snelling Military Museum. They have over 50 pieces of equipment and many of them are operational, including a cherry M5A1 Stuart which takes part in a number of parades and other functions. Anyone have any special photo requests?

Yes, please!
M114, M106, M60A1 and M551 (only the last two are for me!) I'm thinking of Roy and Jeff for the Lingle and the Mortar track.

Would be much appreciated!

M4A2E8, please! Serials and foundry marks would be particularly appreciated.

Cheers and thanks,

Scott

Dang! Just called the Museum to verify hours and was told it'll be closed this weekend due to President Bush's imminent arrival. (Laura is already here.)

Air Force One parks at the Air Force Reserve base on the north side of MSP International Airport. The Ft. Snelling Military Museum is on the northeast corner of the airport, too close for security purposes to allow it to remain open, apparently.

I have your photo requests and will do my best to fulfill them when the museum reopens.

We must be slipping, the "AFV Association" just doesn't have the clout it used to have. Rolling Eyes

Thanks for thinking of the "Mortar-Magot" Doug. I'd love some M84, 4.2 inch self propelled Mortar Carriers. However I will be in total disbelief if I ever see an M106 or M1064 on display. These would be awesome for an in-door, wideopen display!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post some pics of their V100. I gave them some parts for it. Would love to see what it looks like.
