The definition of 'Heavy Metal'....
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

OK,

Best music video featuring a military vehicle: (ooh, you'll hate me for this)

www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6I5DzMYqcU Laughing

Wha'?....the ATTEX 6 or 8 by...? Military vehicle? Well, it was used briefly as a tank simulator, but it's a civilian vehicle at heart. We tested 'em at the Armor Board and the School played with 'em briefly as a training tool for budding Armor Officers (see why I don't want to impersonate one? Laughing ) as a way to contain costs.

They were entertaining little beasts if you could operate out of sight of the "authorities" (i.e., not operating "as a tank") as they were quite powerful (and potentially dangerous). This program didn't last long. Wink

okay, read enough, not reading any further! James Marshall Hendrix is tops! don, i think that Stevie Ray is the only one who could ever do Jimi justice. he could play Hendrix like no one 'cept Hendrix, but i have to give it to Jimi-- Jimi was airborne!!!!! He did Voodoo Child, Machine Gun (Berkely rendition is the best), Johnny B. Goode!!! and the Star Spangled Banner (i like the Atlanta Pop Fest rendition best, Woodstock second)....
anything live by Hendrix is okay by me (Jimi could also curse at you with his public saxophone too, just listen to him dealing with hecklers in the audience)
don, have you noticed that Stevie Ray's renditions are longer than Jimi's???
i do like the way SRV does Third Stone from the Sun, Stevie actually stood on his neck to produce some of the freak out effects! very cool....

Don't tell me you saddled yourselves with those things too?! For how long? We only used them as "training aids".

No,

we hever had them, we were busy with indigenous designs for such things- you should see some of the things they dreamed up for the mountain troops.

I did take a privately owned one for a spin once, and while it was fun, I'd settle for something else.

From what I hear the Brits trialled them at one time, and another European nation which shall remain undisclosed used them for some opposite-of-white operations, as well as another one located on the Mediterranean coast. <cough>

Attex 8 produced by... Attex! The 6-wheel version was the Attex 6

Vought built a similar version but then went all berserk and armoured it...

Cool

Why not pull out all stops as a Heavy Metal band and call your band ... TANK

In my opinion they were average, second rate Motorhead clones.

Jim,
I knew by ATTEX (since I tested the thing)...I was referring to 6 x 6 or 8 x 8 as a question. "6 by or 8 by....? (We uncouth Yanks tend to verbalize the "x" as the word "by" ) Wink

However I didn't know Vought ever got in the game. Did they ever sell any to amount to anything?
