Yeah, Adrian Wainer posted something here about this yesterday (thanks Adrian!).... see a few posts down from this in the O-Club here.

Gotta wonder what Google's tile update speed is like in that mode, if it's anything like the, uhh... "mod which shall not be mentioned in the same post as Google", for FSX and which is in the FSX forum here, well you wouldn't want to fly anything much faster than a C-152 or you'll outrun the scenery update times.

Interesting stuff. Kinda cool that some companies are making "flight-simulator-like" applications, speaks well for the future of the hobby!

Have you seen the new "flight simulator" that the History Channel has for free download, based on the "Dogfights" series??? Pretty gamey and crude IMHO, but hey at least they did something. And it's not only free, it has a FW-190 in it!

Free? Did you say FREE? lol

I wonder how well they modeled the 'engine on fire' effects for that 190?...lol

Sorry Adrian, I do miss the odd post now and again and I apologize for that!

Well, there's been some good Simulators released in the past that were outstanding and most of them MS related. Still, it's good to see competition and interest in this hobby... Smile

A pure novelty for us simmers at this point, but quite a fun one, nonetheless. And 50+FPS! SLIDERS ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT! WOOOO!

*Psssst!* (Part of the appeal the FW190 holds for Stoopy is that, in the words of the experts, "it is an extremely simple aircraft to fly and is designed for pilot convenience." Wink )* This may explain his shift from the tried-and-true bf109 toward the "end of our war"...But don't tell him I said so...

Well I leave (left?) the Bf109 flyin' for thems that prefer it and can do the best....like JG300-Cobra!!! Migod!!!!!!!

Can't step away form the speed of that lil' FW!!

And hey, this here Google flight sim ain't too bad at all! Joystick hatswitch, throttle and trim support (I like the "snap to" and "snap back" behavior of the hat view) and I'm gettin' 75 FPS here!

It has a very limited number of airports you can start out from so you're on your own to navigate to any particular place of interet (good thing they included a jet). Took off from LAX in the prop job, flew east for a while and shot a touch & go at my old airport, Redlands Municipal....WAY COOL, BIG THUMBS UP for this one!!

Well, JG300-Cobra's awesome abilities notwithstanding, I was kinda' wondering what sort of "pilot conveniences" we were talkin' about here? I mean, did the 190 have more and larger cupholders or sump'in'? It's not like you need a large pilot relief tube or anything... Maybe there's some kind of "supplemental restraint system" that enhances the effect of the Man-bra under high G-loading or something? Of course, if your'd rather not talk about it.... Wink
