Always on the edge of the flight envelope, the ol' Ascout is always out there pioneering for ya', finding new ways for your to kill yourselves...and this time, he almost succeeded....

BUT...he cheated death ONE more time...taking Massimo Altieri's X-15, it was time to see if it could make a landing on the WWII short-deck "Saratoga", without dyin'...

Well, it lined up good, set into a good sink rate, flared nice....I knew the contact would be hard if I was to get 'er stopped so accepted that I'd have to really pull hard on the reins and dig the bit in. The old gal dug her shoes in and broke her hind legs...we shed a few non-critical parts on the slide down the deck.

But lookin' at the pics...just when you think the ol' Ascout has screwed the pooch, augered in, and bought the farm....he's worked another miracle of aviation and lived to tell the tale. (Thankfully, we still had systems power to operate the canopy, and crews got me out safely...there was no fire)

'Course, we had to shoot the horse.
