Munster museum, Germany
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Nope,

it's a Stridsvagn m/21-29 from the period between the wars, built by Landsverk from 1929 on- I seem to remember it was based on a German design, but don't quote me on that.

D'oh, I'd completely forgotten about that... Still not a runner, though, some of Bovvy's modifications have been replaced, but it's unlikely it will ever be a runner again, there seems to be a lack of spares. Rolling Eyes

Yes, it is a German design that was to late to be used in WW1. They were German made but assembled in Sweden from parts marked "tractor parts and roof plating" (Germany was forbidden to make tanks). The vehicle in Munster is a former monument tank that was transfered in 1992. The assembly of the m/21 was carried out at the Swedish Navy yards. It was modernized in 1929 by Landsverk, hence the m/21-29 designation.

In 1938 one vehicle was returned to Germany on German request as they had kept none for themselves, this vehicle disappeared during WW2.

Was the Hummel and SdKfz 251/7 acquired from the Patton Museum? At one time an earlier Hummel and 251/7 were part of the collection and were returned/traded to Germany.

From the information I have both the Hummel and the SdKfz 251/7 came from the Patton museum, 15 years apart though. The Hummel was sent to Munster in 1976 and the SdKfz in 1991. The other Hummel's I have on record for Germany is one at Sinsheim and one at Koblenz (ex. APG).

I knew about the Hummel, but its good to know that the 251/7 also came from 'here'. I only learned about its former presence here a couple of years ago, and feared it may have been the victim of 'recycling drive' (shudder).

251/9 is in 'active' restoration, and hopefully will get completed in the near future.

Several years ago this Belgian M47 (Belgian r/n 28803) was noted outside. Last September the only M47 is the one inside the museum.

Is there someone who knows if it is the same tank???

The serial of the one inside in German colours is 7103.
