How to take a guided tour of APG?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

I understand that occasionally the refurbishment area is available for viewing in guided tours. I don't live too far away and would like to sign up or be notified in the event another tour is scheduled; so if there is a contact I need to establish, please let me know. Thanks in advance. - James

Hi James

You need to hook up with Bob Smart. He volunteers there and offers wonderful behind the scene tours. I'm sure as soon as he sees this thread he will reply and you'll learn more. HTH

I think I heard my name Smile

Well we just did a tour a few weeks ago. Right now it looks like I won't be doing any until late October due to some other commitments. But that is always subject to change. I always try to let the folks here know when something is planned. Usually I'll have a group (Boy Scouts, school group, Wargamers, etc) who set up a scheduled tour often a couple months in advance. Then as teh tiome approaches I let folks here and on a couple other discussion groups know what day the tour is. So the best way is to stay tuned here. You can also send me an email to tanktours @ monocacy.com and I'll put you in my reminder file.

You say you live nearby - In that case you really should join the Ordnance Museum Foundation. The Annual meeting and holiday party is in early December and is a good way to keep up on what is going on at the museum. It's a good way to meet the staff which is always helpful if you want to do research up there
