Need some help does anyone know what is going on at Kubinka?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

So, what i know right now:
1). Museum can be opened from 9-th september. Status after 9-th september right now is unknown.
2). Museum chief is fired, already have new chief.
3). Work of restoration team is stopped.
4). Work of repaint team in "hold" status. In fact we are paint tanks in last weekend, but later... ours status we can 100% know after Tankman's day (9-th september).
5). Museum right now in "reconstruction" status. bad news - AFVs from hangar #7 is incorrect repainted, base colors only. Hangar #6 AFVs (Germany) - only update of old paint.

Serials on a T-tank is not so difficult, when nothing is made over it such as mine clearing/jamming systems/extra armor, it is located on the glacis (sp?) within a red square.

Have a good trip!!

lesley

Is there a listing anywhere of the Kubinka vehicles? I found what appeared to be the Kubinka site, though it only generically states that Kubinka contains 300 plus vehicles.

If someone can post photos of your trip, anywhere near the quality we saw re the Patton Museum tour photos from this summer (a nice shot of each vehicle), it would be greatly appreciated. You guys did wonders, especially with the LST building photos!

Thanks Jeff,

Wow, Kubinka definitely holds some rarities, including the prototype tanks. I haven't seen the Hungarian and Japanese light tanks around, other than some scare period photos.

It'd be great see them in color, and non-grainy.
