US Army AFVs from eBay
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Thanks guys, I understand the water cooled part, but what are the cables and hoses going to the sight? It seems like an early period to have predictor sights on a gun??

Actually,

There should be two hoses attached to the weapon for the water jacket that allows the expanding water to collect in a condensor. The water cooled version .50 Cal is a pretty bulky weapon, these are probably part of an Air Defense unit set up, the condensor would be located away as to not get in the way of the crew.

Now that funky sight.... Neutral , Maybe some training device, it's obvious the weapon isn't loaded or has been fired. Where's all the expended brass??? Those two guys staring intently at their "Box?" might be an early Fire Direction Center crew or could be operating the funky sight inputting, dare I say, "Data Shocked ?"

I note the box at middle left has what appears to be fittings for 3 more units ( unused at the moment) perhaps it was some sort of experimental fire direction control device for a multiple gun AA battery Rolling Eyes

While we (and I) really appreciate these wonderful pictures, we also need that you take a moment and read Fledermaus' "announcement" at the top of the forum and the related thread:

...and edit your post to contain a maximum of ten images. It would best then I think to start another thread with the next ten since we don't know where the page will break, and another for the next ten, and so on. My home PC with cable was having problems with the first two pages of this thread, Sad Sad but was able to download the third page in no time. Smile

My boss's PC was also has problems with the size of the frist two pages Confused and downloads page three in a blink of an eye. Smile
