Post subject: Advice and 2 volunteers needed (Fled and Stoopy...)

Skiperoo (Earl Watkins) and I are working on a project (well, it's his project and I'm just kicking in a small auxiliary bit) for his Underway Replenishment scenery thing. He thought it would be neat to have an overflight by an "unspecified" aircraft that needs to have a place to go for that to happen. Thus, I've built an "uncharted island" with an airfield for this AI round trip by the "bad guys" and I need a coupla' things:

1. I'm building in FSSC for FS9. This is a non-existant island in the real world in the South China Sea. I forgot (if I ever knew) how to make an airfield appear in the sim as an actual airport, which we need (even though it's to be an uncharted island). It will have amenities, but no Navaids since it's "secret". But for FS9 purposes, it has to appear on the airport list where none existed before. I've never done that before, all my other sceneries were either at existing airports as enhancements (like Phu Bai or CBB7) or weren't "airports" at all, like the Anomaly series...how do I make my airfield add to the sim as an actual "airport" in FSSC?

2. Earl reports some "shimmering" in his addon that I don't get, I need Fled and Stoopy to take a look at this for me and see if you get the same effect (I don't observe this) before I start playing with the altitude settings of my island. I have Stoopy's email, not sure I still have Fled's. You've tested for me before so I'd like you to observe and take a few screenies and send me privately with observations, por favor. 'Kay?

Help appreciated....advice on item one ugently needed...

Earl tells me that the bleed through he reported only occurs when the AFCAD is installed. Any idea why that would be? It's essential for the application.

YARG!

I'm up for it but today I've got my hands totally full.....we just adopted 3 dogs from the local rescue association and they're in the house for the first time today....a beautiful female pit/shephard mix (proving herself to be the Alpha of the pacl so far), a Walker Hound/Jack Russel mix (man, DON'T as me how that coulda happened) , and a lil' dinky Jack Russell terrier that wants to either hump or eat everything in sight (we're thinking of calling him "Hawg").

I'll get on the email but from my memory of doing this one time before (A Shau Valley) to make an AI flight to it, we'd have to make a new BGL file that would have basic airport facilities (runway, taxiway and parking) so that we can make an AI flight that would "accept" an AI flight plan and go there (which is another BGL file for traffic).

Well, I think "Wilde Sau' would be an appropriate name, but that might a problem getting past "Household Six".

We have a runway and we have taxiways. I think Earl has put in some parking (cuz' he had to move some) and he's successful landed his AI aircraft (I think). But his AFCAD caused bleed through of ground textures, somehow. That's what we're checking.

Have fun, we're in no rush. We sneer at haste.

Update:

I'm aware you are all missing a texture for the radar on the end of the runway at point of the island, I'll include that tex in the next email update.

Also, I've added points to the polygons for both the island and the grassy field. This makes for a more natural and pleasing rounder, less angular shape that will have no effect on the other issues being discussed. You'll see this in the next email I send you with the next version. Wink
